Winter: bring warm clothing, a good jacket, woolly hats and gloves are essential, anything water proof is great. Foot wear of some kind must be worn on the boat, sandals, jandals, flip flops, thongs, sneakers, trainers, anything. Bring a change of clothes, just in case you get wet.

We provide life jackets and spray coats and our boat hand rails are heated.

How many people on one boat?

11 Adults, or up to 14 Children. We have 3 boats. Rapids Jet has three rows of padded seating which provide awesome views, and heated handrails for your comfort.

How fast will we go?

Our 500 hp V8 Jet boats are capable of doing 100 km/ph, however on the trip we will be doing 70 – 80 km/ph.(Believe me, this is fast enough).

Can I choose to sit up the front?

You cannot reserve a specific seat on the boat. Due to safety reasons your driver will be seating you.

Who can ride?

Anyone aged 5 years and over can ride on Rapids Jet. Children need to be 1 metre tall to ride in our jet boats. (Please note: the ride is unsuitable for under 5’s)

The oldest person we have taken is 92 years.

The ride is an experience for people of all fitness levels.

For Disabled people please note that there are approximately 25 steps to get up & down to the boats. If you can get there, we are happy to take you

Do you take photos?

We have professional photographers who go down to the rapids to take approximately 40 action photos while you are on the boat. You can view the pictures when you return to base and they are available for purchase. Upon payment for photos the images are emailed and text to you so you can instantly share with friends and family

Can I drive?

No unfortunately we cannot let you do that, Our drivers are professionally trained to the highest standards, and licensed, so you can be sure you are in very safe and experienced hands needed to navigate this section of the Waikato River.

Can I take my camera on board?

The no cameras policy in place for the last 13 years has been modified to allow Hands Free cameras on the Rapids Jet ride.  The advent of Google glasses and mounting options for lighter action based video cameras have created an undeniable reason for modification of the policy.

The key reason for the ban has been safety.  So, the hands-free devices must allow the customer to hold on with both hands entirely throughout the trip.  Secondly the camera must not protrude beyond the body’s natural silhouette to ensure that the camera does not interfere with another customers experience. Or pose a threat with protruding objects outside the boats.

We do not allow and still cameras, Phones or action cameras unless they are hands free with a forehead or chest mount.
