Rapids Jet Taupō and Te Pā Tū Rotorua are owned and operated by Tauhara North No2 Trust, an Ahu Whenua Trust situated between Rotorua and Taupō. Our people whakapapa (descend from) Ngati Tahu – Ngati Whāoa iwi (tribes).
The Trust’s work is determined by a whakatauki (proverb) that has guided our people through many generations.
Kia mau ki te whenua (Hold fast to our lands), whakamahia te whenua (and make best use of our lands), hei painga mo ngā uri whakatipuranga (for future generations).
As manuhiri (visitors) to our tourism experiences you become part of our story and aspirations as through tourism our people celebrate our history, our lands, riverways and mountains and our future.
The experience
Te Pā Tū presents culture and kai (cuisine) events – sharing Māori history, traditions, and future aspirations across four hours of celebration and feasting.
Te Pā Tū offers 4-hour evening events that change with each season of the maramataka, the Māori lunar calendar. Cultural knowledge unique to each season is shared through rituals, songs, stories across the event as is local, seasonal kai – plentiful and delicious. Kai horotai (indigenous canapes) are followed by a torch lit walk to a lavish 3-course fusion feast.
Then, join us at Rapids Jet for a 35-minute ride of adventure, set in the beautiful Aratiatia Scenic Reserve. As New Zealand’s only white-water jet boat, we promise an exhilarating ride of spins, squeals and peals of laughter with the odd splash of pure Waikato blue.
Rapids Jet is located just 15 minutes’ drive north of Taupo and 40 minutes south of Te Pā Tū.
